Big Stories for Little Dreamers

May 12, 2017

"When Amelia was a little girl, she liked to imagine she could stretch her wings and fly like a bird … "

little people big dreams

So begins the story of real-life superhero (and future aviator) Amelia Earhart, who became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic. The book is part of an inspiring new series called Little People, Big Dreams, whose goal is to shatter gender stereotypes. Authored by Isabel Sanchez Vegara and Lisbeth Kaiser, the series profiles IRL women, from artists and scientists to designers and activists, who overcame hardship to fulfil childhood dreams. Rosa Parks, Marie Curie, Frida Kahlo and Maya Angelou are just some of the strong women featured, each an inspiration to kids everywhere. Beautifully illustrated, they’re the perfect bedtime antidote to demure princesses and glass slippers.

Sweet dreams indeed. —Marianne Wisenthal
