Have Booster, Will Travel

June 2, 2017

We don’t want our littles growing up too fast—but we can’t wait to ditch the bulky car seats, either.

With road-trip season in (near) full gear, we were pretty stoked to discover Mifold ($80)—a compact booster that’s perfect for long hauls or local carpooling. Instead of lifting kids up, Mifold is designed to hold the seatbelt down so it’s positioned on shoulder and hips, but away from kiddies’ face, neck and delicate stomach area. There’s no installation needed (it’s designed to work without a UAS system), but kids need to be 40 to 100 lbs and able to sit up properly during long car rides. (My six-year-old gave her Mifold a big thumbs up for comfort and I found it quick and easy to set up, once I’d followed the instructions carefully.) It’s an impressive 10-times smaller than your average booster and, once folded, fits neatly into a backpack or a suitcase! We also like that it comes in nifty colours like taxi yellow and denim blue and meets Transport Canada’s RSSR safety regulations.

Talk about a joy ride! —Marianne Wisenthal
