Chips & Wine for the Date Night Win

October 12, 2017

After a 10-day-away trip, I was looking forward to spending ACTUAL face time with my husband. Sure, we’d been in touch (remember when video calls were considered futuristic?) but, as everyone knows, there’s nothing like the IRL (in-real-life) thing.

That’s why I was immensely grateful when Miss Vickie’s came to my rescue. The maker of can’t-have-just-one potato chips recently conducted a survey showing the majority of British Columbian men and women crave time to reconnect with their partners, yet only spend an average of three hours a week doing so. Not only that, nearly EVERYONE in the province agrees (like, 99 per cent everyone) that a little effort from their partner goes a long way, and 89 per cent connect through simple moments together versus an elaborate date night out.

That said, 64 per cent of women say their ideal date night with their partner is staying in with a bag of chips and bottle of wine—and I wholeheartedly agree (give me bunny slippers over heels any day of the week). And the major takeaway: chips and wine are key to reconnection (don’t believe me? More than two-thirds of B.C.-ers agree a simple date night can be elevated with the easy addition of a bag and a bottle). So, suitcase unpacked, daughter tucked into bed, lights dimmed and fire roaring (it wasn’t that cold out, but we made an early-autumn exception), we settled in with a bag of new Parmesan & Roasted Garlic Miss Vickie’s chips and a bottle of Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi Chardonnay for some much-needed reconnecting. We love the wine and chip pairing as the crisp Chardonnay cuts through the rich chip for a tasty contrast. Not into Chard? Not to worry, Miss Vickie’s and Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi have done the work for you and have paired each delicious chip flavour with its complementing wine to enhance the experience.
