Can a new home be luxurious, beautiful, even artful? When it comes to Gabriola Park—Langley’s latest and, dare we say, most-desirable residential development, consisting of three- and four-bedroom cottage-style townhouses in a gorgeous green park-like setting—the answer is a resounding YES! Here, our 15 favourite design features in this stunning new development (trust us, you’ll be dazzled). —Noa Nichol
Large-format porcelain tiles. Elegant, classy and timeless, large-format tiles are definitely trending into 2018. Contemporary and durable, they add elegance and flare to a room—and, thanks to their size, can actually make a space look and feel bigger!
Nine-foot ceilings. With eight feet being the standard, we couldn’t help but notice the extra foot in ceiling height at Gabriola Park makes a huge difference when it comes to increasing the spacious feeling of each home.
Plush carpeting. With so many flooring options available to builders these days, we’re over-the-moon glad Gabriola Park opted to include super-soft-under-our-feet carpets in the bedrooms, hallways and stairs.
Shaker-style soft-close cabinetry. A shaker-style cabinet is characterized by a five-piece door with a recessed centre panel, while "soft close" refers to the fact that you will never hear a slamming cupboard door in your Gabriola Park home. Win-win!
Quartz countertops. Besides being beautiful, quartz is a non-porous material that resists staining better than granite, marble and concrete. It stands up to juice, oil, wine, tomato, coffee and other sources of stains in the kitchen (we’re so on board).
Edison-style pendant lighting. A modern twist on a vintage style, these lights prove that some bright ideas really are timeless (thanks, Thomas!).
Double stainless-steel sinks with pull-down faucets. Talk about cool-looking and convenient! Roomy sinks with a longer hose make filling and cleaning pots and pans easy as pie (or pasta, or paella, or whatever you happen to making for dinner)!
Sharp microwave drawer ovens with pop-out control panels. These red-hot cooking units are sleek and low profile, and boast smooth open-and-shut gliding action that actually prevents spilling, to boot.
Soaker tubs. Arguably, after a long day, no design feature is more important than a deep, luxurious bathtub (besides the scented bubble bath and aromatic candles that naturally go with them), and Gabriola Park definitely got this one right!
Frameless glass-enclosed showers with a tiled wood-plank-look feature and oversized showerheads. No time for a tub? Master ensuites at Gabriola Park are, happily, equipped with spa-like showers that come a very, very, very close second.
His-and-her sinks. Available in most of the master suites, if you’ve ever had to share a single sink with your (ahem, messy) partner, you know how important this design element is (sorry, sweetie).
Rough-in central vacuums. Nice to know that, if desired, a central vacuum can easily be installed into our new Gabriola Park home. We certainly won’t miss our old, clunky, noisy standup!
Whirlpool washer-dryer sets with alpha slim front profiles. No condo-sized laundry machines here! These, yes, sexy washers and dryers offer eight cycles, including Sanitize With Oxi, designed to remove 99.9% of bacteria found in home laundry.
Barbeque decks. A special deck for our grill, making outdoor barbecuing easy and convenient all year round (not to mention, removing the clutter from our meant-for-sitting patio)? Yes please!
Double two-by-four-inch insulated party wall systems. Let the good times roll! This fun feature means you can enjoy your new neighbours at Gabriola Park without letting your late-night entertaining get on their nerves—and vice versa.
