Kim Devin, co-founder of the Australian skin-care line Dr. Roebuck’s, has been skiing since the age of four. Here, she shares her must-do skin regime for the springtime slopes (read to the end to find out how you could win a Dr. Roebuck’s prize pack valued at $218!). —Vita Daily
You recently had a family ski trip to Whistler from your new home base in Santa Monica. There can be a lot of cold wind on those high chairlifts. How did you prepare your skin for a day on the slopes?
We were actually inspired to bring Dr. Roebuck’s to life on a ski trip in Jackson Hole as I would always take PURE with us on trips. It is a rich moisturizer and a barrier that our parents formulated for us that we would put on before we got on the snow followed by sunscreen. Then I would put on a layer of PURE before bed to rehydrate and heal the skin. When we were in Jackson Hole we had the crew of 10 fighting over the last tub, saying I can’t live without putting PURE on before and after a ski. So Zoe, my identical twin sister and co-founder, and I said, "Why don’t we take this to the world?"
With spring skiing in full force now, you have the added issue of sun and glare off the snow. What’s the best defense for your skin?
You must use a zinc-oxide or a titanium dioxide-based sunscreen as it creates a barrier for your skin so protects from the sun and the wind.
And what about après ski? How do you get that healthy glow in front of the fire?
