With spring around the corner, it’s time to freshen up my wardrobe, starting with denim! Denim is a staple item in my closet. Everyone has that pair of jeans, the ones you reach for to dress up for date night or to run errands in. Denim lasts forever and it’s important to know where to shop to find the perfect pair. This spring, when it came to restocking my denim drawer with the very latest trends, I headed straight to my local Mark’s store, where a shipment of new styles and selections had just arrived. The in-store assistance was just what I needed to make sure I found the perfect fit … OK, make that fits (you know I couldn’t walk away with just one pair)!
From international favourites like Levi’s, Guess and Silver, to the up-and-coming Mark’s in-house brands like Denver Hayes and DH3, Mark’s has denim to fit every body, every need and every Canadian spring. Among the latest and greatest trends to catch my eye: new pull-on jeans from Denver Hayes that omit the usual front-end hardware (zippers and buttons) and are casual, comfy and, most importantly, super cute! These come in a straight leg, skinny or skinny jegging style and are a great addition to my spring wardrobe because they are durable—and ready to be paired with a cute sandal!
While shopping, I also learned that Silver, an all-Canadian company, is a brand so conscious about fitting real women with real curves, it literally broke the mould when it comes to its back pockets. While most jean-makers use a single template for these rear-end smartphone-holders, Silver, based in Winnipeg and widely available at Mark’s, has a unique back-pocket template to fit every size of its jeans, thus avoiding too-small pockets that look conspicuously out of place. Just another way Mark’s promises that every client who walks through the door will find her perfect denim fit. My go-to Silvers are the Suki high-rise straight leg jean. Not only are they comfortable, but they complement my natural curves and are perfect for all-day, all-night wear!
