While a few brave souls stick to a cycling commute year-round, we prefer to wait til there’s a little sunshine on the pavement before strapping on our helmets and pedalling away. And, while we’re aware that function and efficiency must be priorities when it comes to buying a new bike, we’d be loathe to sacrifice completely on style. That said, here are some of our favourite models on the market. —Mackenzie Shand
creme molly peach bike. This beauty ($699) is sure to turn a few heads on the trails, thanks to its polka-dotted pale-peach paint job, wicker basket and beige leather accents. Plus, it’s lighter and smaller in structure than the average Dutch-style bike, making it easy to hump up stairs.
prim bike. Designed specifically for women, this little number by Raleigh ($580) features a step-through design, making it easy to hop on and off (bonus: the matching chain guard will help keep your pants from snagging).
echo mixte uno bike. Talk about sleek and speedy! We’re loving the white-and-red styling on this pretty eight-speed bike ($999).
gala cruiser. Ride relaxed and upright on this classic crusier ($480), boasting a durable build that takes on road bumps with ease (and a basket and bell, to boot!).
