Introducing, Coffee Leaf Tea! Headquartered in Vancouver, Wize Monkey has created a unique brew crafted from the leaves of the coffee plant (Coffea arabica, for you Latin lovers). Coffee leaves, after going through a traditional fermentation process, are steeped in hot water to make a deliciously smooth and full-bodied tea that’s lightly caffeinated (about the same as green tea) and—get this—higher in antioxidants than either green tea or your usual mug of java. Lightly sweet and deliciously smooth (Wize Monkey’s range of flavours includes Ginger Lemon, Minty Marvel, and our personal fave, Mango Party), it never gets bitter even after long steeps and contains mangiferin: a good-for-you natural polyphenol that fights inflammation.
Best of all? The company is supports coffee farmers in Nicaragua by offering a year-round income source since the leaves can be harvested during the coffee bean off-season.
