With the number of vegetarians in Canada growing (from 900,000 to 2.3 million over the past 15 years), we teamed up with the folks at OpenTable to bring you some of the top restaurants serving minus-the-meat meals in our country. Fayuca is inspired by the free flow of flavours and ideas across borders, up and down the Pacific Coastline, from the state of Baja California in Mexico to the province of British Columbia in Canada. Fayuca meticulously sources products from the best farms, fisheries, and suppliers. Farmed products are organic or chemical free, whenever possible. All seafood is sustainable and wild caught. Our innovative, handcrafted cocktail menu pays tribute to Mexico’s esoteric mysticism, and its top shelf has the largest selection of mezcal in the city. Fayuca pours beer from the best local breweries, and every wine on the menu is natural and free of sulfites.

calgary. An all-day neighbourhood eatery that boasts bold new North American cuisine and vegetable anchored dishes, Ten Foot Henry bridges the gap between what you should be eating, and what you really want to eat. The restaurant is named after a longtime Calgary icon: a 1930 comic strip character, Henry, who became larger than life as a muse for the city’s creative community in the 1980s. A can’t-miss item from the menu: the "tomatoes." Sounds simple, tastes incredible.

edmonton. Padmanadi is a vegetarian restaurant that brings the flavors of Indonesia to diners in Alberta. Its menu features only the finest ingredients and a dedication to vegan and vegetarian cooking that reflects the spices and authentic flavors of the Southeast Asian islands.

toronto. Rosalinda is vibrant, feel-good vegan Mexican restaurant located in Toronto’s financial district. Think tacos, tostadas, mezcal and more! On the menu: veg-friendly favourites like potato and mushroom falutas, jicama and citrus salad, beet tartare, roasted cauli tostada, and a black-bean burger topped with vegan mozzarella.
