Mid-November and, with the festive season in full swing, booking a space for your Yuletide shindig is top of mind for many (including those of us at VITA HQ). Good news if you’re in Vancouver: holiday parties and private dining are carefree and elegant at the Shangri-La Hotel, with Market by Jean-Georges‘ refined settings. In fact, the restaurant offers three unique private dining spaces to choose from (read more about them below); just like a box of assorted Christmas chocolates, there’s nothing better than having options at this busy, beautiful time of year!

georgia room. The largest private dining room, this space is flexible for smaller tables, or can be arranged to accommodate long-table dinners (seated: 40 people; stand-up reception: 45 people). A fireplace and Juliet balcony overlooking the hotel’s lobby add personality to this multi-functional space. Perfect for larger social celebrations, and also ideal for corporate business lunches, the room comes with built-in A/V.

alberni room. A private dining room as elegant and luxurious as its namesake street just below, this solarium-style space has floor-to-ceiling windows, plus sliding doors to the main dining room that can be left open—or closed to create a more intimate setting. Seats 16 people.

market room. Accommodating up to 10 people, seated, this space is a favourite for those looking to host an intimate business or social gathering. Here, small groups can enjoy total privacy around a marble-topped round table.

At Market, customizable menus are available for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and cocktail parties (so, any time!), with executive chef Ken Nakano delighting guests with sophisticated yet uncomplicated flavours. With a passion and dedication for authentic farm-to-table cuisine, chef Nakano showcases the finest Canadian ingredients from coast to coast. On our holiday party food wish list: Pacific scallops on warm black truffle with garlic toast, a local charcuterie platter with fennel salami, prosciutto, pickles, mustard and more, and Jean-Georges cheesecake with a seasonal fruit compote!
