These influencers are the real deal: no selfies, no piles of swag, just real pro tips, celeb client goss and some truly stunning shots of their editorial work. —Aileen Lalor
julie cusson (@juliecussonmakeupartist). Based in Montreal, Julie is known for her mastery of light, shade and texture. She’s the official makeup artist for Chanel Beauty in Canada, so you can also see some cool behind-the-scenes shots of the brand’s runway shows.
diana carreiro (@diana_carreiro). We discovered this artist through her work with grey-haired model-du-jour Maye Musk and were hooked. Check out her Paper Dolls posts for spring/summer 2019 inspo—we can’t wait to try the white cat eye.
simone otis (@simoneotis). Remember those super natural-looking images for Shoppers Drug Mart’s winter campaign? Otis is the artist behind them. What we love? The gorgeous, real-looking skin, with freckles, fine lines and pores in all their glory.
susana hong (@susana_hong). For the more avant-garde makeup fan, there’s this TO-based artist who’s worked with everyone from Karlie Kloss, to Jane Fonda. We especially love her bold, graph-ic, multicolour eye makeup.
ronnie tremblay (@ronnietremblay). Tremblay puts the ‘art’ into makeup artistry. We were captivated by her recent series with androgynous model Kris Lodu: Black eyeliner was used to scribble lines around the eyes and then acid-bright eyeshadows painted in abstract shapes.
