It’s Valentine’s Day and You’re Loved a Choco-LOT! (Win! A $100 Green & Black’s Prize Pack!)

Below, find baking diva Samantha Chiu‘s recipe (the photo above is curtesy of Samantha, too) for Chocolate Strawberry Pop Tarts—the perfect heart-shaped Valentine’s dessert using (of course) Green & Black’s ethically sourced gourmet chocolate. Samantha Chiu’s Chocolate Strawberry Pop-tarts (Yields 12)

3 cups flour
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup cold butter, cubed
1/2 cup ice cold water
1 cup strawberry jam

Icing:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
2 tablespoon milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 bar of Green & Black’s milk chocolate melted

Method: Make the dough: In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar and salt. Add in the cold butter and using a pastry blender or two knives, cut it into the mixture until crumbly. Slowly add the water until the dough comes together. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough until it’s 1/8-inch thick. Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out 24 hearts. Add a spoon of strawberry jam on one half of the heart and lay the other half of the heart on top using a fork to crimp the edges. Refrigerate for 30-45 minutes. Preheat oven to 400F and bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool completely on wire racks before adding the icing. Make the icing: Mix powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk and vanilla extract. Stir in melted Green & Black’s chocolate. Spoon frosting onto cooled pop-tarts and sprinkle your topping of choice.
