Another opportunity to get that perfect IG shot (or, perhaps, to put your phone away and simply stop to smell the flowers) is happening at Blossomfest, April 27th and 28th, 2019, at Taves Family Farms in Abbotsford, B.C. We quizzed co-owner Corinne Taves about the event (and got her to spill her top blossom pick)! —Noa Nichol
Hi Corinne! Tell us a bit about yourself to start!
I have been helping with running Taves Family Farms Applebarn for over 29 years. At first I helped part-time while I finished my teacher’s training, but after graduation in 1995 I began working at the farm full-time in the summer and fall. Loren Taves and I, the owners, now have eight kids ages seven to 21 and we love coming up with new fun ideas and events for the farm.
What is Blossomfest?
An opportunity for the public to come and enjoy the beautiful apple blossoms and farm animals in the spring.
Top activities to take part in at Blossomfest?
Hay ride around the blooming apple orchard, petting bunnies and goats and ipping apple cider slushies (or regular cider)!
Tips for taking the perfect photo at the festival?
Take a stroll between the apple tree rows on the hillside behind the jumping pillow. It’s a great place to take a picture with the green grass and the blooming trees all around you!
Personal question: your favourite spring blossom is … ?
Alkmene apple trees are gorgeous because the trees are loaded with tons of clusters of pinkish-white blooms.
