Hi Rachel! Tell us a little bit about you and what do you do!?

I’m the assistant editor and social media manager for VITA and Vitadaily.ca. I love cycling around the seawall, cooking for family and friends, exploring music and film and, being a typical introvert, my ideal evenings are spent at home nestled in with a good book. Travel is my true passion and I’m always on the lookout for new places to adventure with my husband, Matt. We are bereaved parents to our son Coen and expecting his baby brother any day now!

What’s your personal style/beauty mantra?

My style has changed a lot over the years and I’ve experimented with many different looks. Nowadays I keep it simple and just wear whatever makes me feel confident while focusing on quality, sustainable items. In my opinion, the most beautiful people emanate love and treat others with kindness and respect. It also doesn’t hurt to nourish the body with healthy food, tonnes of water and plenty of zzzs. Makeup-wise, I tend toward a more natural look, although I’m a firm believer in lipstick and rarely leave home without a coat of mascara. In the last few years, especially during pregnancy, I’ve turned to more earth-loving makeup and skin-care brands.

What would the Mother’s Day of your fantasies be?

There would definitely have to be some sort of spa treatment involved! Quality time with family. A delicious meal, flowers and plenty of sunshine.

The thing you’re most looking forward to about motherhood? The thing you’re most dreading?

Motherhood is the most incredible privilege. Although I’ve been a mother to Coen for almost two years, I was only only able to parent him physically for two weeks before he passed away. Now expecting my second, I am looking forward to the simple things: holding him in my arms and going for long walks along the ocean. Staring into his eyes and playing with his tiny feet. I can’t wait to learn his soul and plan on raising him to be the best human he can be. What am I dreading? The anxiety and worry that inevitably comes with parenthood. I don’t want to be a helicopter mama but I feel like that’s where I’m headed!
