November 1st, 2019, is World Vegan Day and, since going animal free is no longer limited to just our diets, here are our top fashion, beauty and wellness cruelty free picks for the animal lover in you. —Vicki Duong
kat von d. Known for her love of animals, beauty diva Kat Von D created a Vegan Love Eyeshadow Palette ($57) with 20 per cent donated to Mercy for Animals. With shade names like compassion, mercy and earthling, this limited-edition palette features both neutrals and bold shades—making the possibilities endless.
call it spring. Continuing to make strides toward a more-sustainable future, Call It Spring recently launched an entire collection of shoes and accessories made materials like jersey made from recycled water bottles, insoles made from natural algae and eco-vegan leather! Easy on the eyes, and easy on the plant, too!
tru niagen. As we age, our body produces less nicotinamide riboside—a chemical compound that helps cells function properly through daily activities like sleep, energy and metabolism. While normally found in milk, Tru Niagen ($55) has managed to create a plant-derived version, making its capsules 100 per cent vegan!
mala the brand. When it comes to making your home feel welcoming, there is something about a candle that seriously ups the cosy factor. Mala candles ($27) are made of a custom-blended soy wax that burns cleans and is wholly biodegradable. Our fave fall scent is chai, featuring clove, cinnamon and vanilla. Plus, for every purchase made a tree is planted in North America.
bite beauty. Lip balms are often made with beeswax, but Bite Beauty Agave+ ($18) is a vegan alternative that addresses dryness while adding plumpness and soothing effects. Instead of beeswax the formula boasts agave nectar, which protects and soothes lips, while mongongo oil provides a vitamin E moisture boost.
