Exploring East Coast Wines

Nova Scotia wines are winning won over hearts across the country with sparkling products that boast incredible acidity, salinity and fruit, as well as a little-known appellation of wine style called Tidal Bay—a zippy and bright fruited blend of unusual suspects (think L’Acadie, Seyval Blanc and Vidal: hybrid varietals that respond well to the cool climate of the Gaspereau Valley). With more than a handful of wineries putting out high-quality, delicious wines (several with organic certification and even one following biodynamic farming principles), it’s time to go taste some Nova Scotia wines! —Laura Starr
