Hi Cassandra! Please tell us a bit about yourself to start.

As the founder and CEO of Woash Wellness, you may be shocked that I’m no herbalist or holistic nutritionist and have no idea how to actually blend tea! I come from a business background with years of experience in the hospitality industry; I’m the visionary with multiple passions, endless ideas and a love for travelling and trying new things.

What makes your teas stand apart?

At Woash we aim to encourage health-aware individuals to nourish their bodies from within by carefully, in collaboration with top industry experts, crafting tea blends that utilize the natural benefits and healing properties of each ingredient.

In light of COVID-19, how can herbal teas help boost the immune system?

In endless ways! Herbs carry unique energetics that help to prevent ailments within the body; herbalism approaches the body as a whole, looking internally and externally for things out of balance. This includes your diet, activity level, sleep, environment, where you live … when one aspect is out of balance it throws the entire system out of whack. This is where herbs perform the best, as many carry a variety of benefits to help balance many facets and can be blended with others to help prevent and treat the body as a whole.

What are the top herbs to help boost the immune system?

It’s crazy to think that one of the most common herbs used for centuries for the common cold and respiratory ailments grows in our backyard: elderberries! Astragalus, elderflower, ginger, lemon myrtle, Krishna Tulsi, lemongrass, cardamom and cloves are also immunity stars. All are quite safe, but depending on your unique constitution and your symptoms, some may be more beneficial than others. Treat herbs as an experiment by slowly implementing new ones and checking-in with your body to see how they make you feel.

What are some different ways (including and besides tea) to incorporate healthy, helping herbs into our daily lives?

The great thing about herbs is there are a variety of ways to implement them into your life from tea to tinctures, infusions, cooking, diffusing or tea bathing (soaking in a blend of herbs). Find which method works for you and your schedule, as the most important aspect is that you are consuming them daily in order to reap the endless benefits our surrounding nature has to offer us!

What’s in your teacup right now?

Our Immunity blend! It’s our boldest blend, a perfect balance of sweet and spicy that was designed to boost the immune system and relieve symptoms. It’s also a great blend to make into a bullet tea or tea latte with a splash of nut milk. It has been hard to keep in stock as it is our community’s favourite, too!
