Hi Alicia! Tell us a bit about yourself to start:
Hi! I’m a lifestyle and travel content creator originally from the U.K. I started my blog Go Live Explore back in 2014 when my fiancé and I travelled Southeast Asia, and it began solely as a hobby travel diary. After relocating to Vancouver shortly after, my blog soon evolved into a destination for stylish adventure and a place where I share local and international travels as well as topics like beauty, style, luxury and sustainability. I’ve been blogging full-time for over two years now and it’s something I love with a passion.
How do you use your platform to impact those who follow you?
I’ve really enjoyed building my community over the years and I always try to inspire and educate my audience with the content I put out. I love capturing and sharing beautiful imagery and videos while also providing my audience with content that they find valuable and useful. I openly talk about the highs and lows of life as I want my content to be as real as possible, and ultimately I just want to help my audience in whatever way I can—whether that’s with styling tips, positivity posts, travel inspo, moving abroad guides or just fun day-to-day experiences.
What’s your personal style/beauty mantra?
With fashion, I think it’s so important to carve out your own style. I am very much a classic girl and while I do follow trends, I tend to invest more in staple and statement pieces that make me feel comfortable and confident. There’s nothing fun about wearing something just because it’s on trend that season that you don’t even actually like (we’ve all been there!). For spring, you can’t go wrong with a floral dress teamed with a chunky knit or a leather jacket. And for beauty, drink lots of water, prioritise sleep and feed your body well. Your skin will thank you for it!
It’s spring! What do you love most about this season in the city?
It’s been a rainy winter so I can’t tell you how glad I am that spring is finally here! I love being outside so strolling the seawall or hitting the mountains on a blue sky sunny day makes me so happy. I love cherry blossom season, too—it makes the city look even more beautiful doesn’t it?!
Do you have a green thumb? If so, what’s your fave potted plant to keep at home, and why?
I like to think I have a green thumb but, honestly, I’m very much still learning! I love having greenery around our home though and our plant collection is growing, and it’s amazing how the simple addition of flowers or botanicals can transform a space. My favourite plant at home is our Cast Iron plant. We like to name our plants and we called him Wilson (inspired by the film Castaway). He’s been with us since we moved into our first home in Vancouver five years ago and he always bounces back to life no matter how long we leave him for. He’s a good plant!
