Layering is one of the biggest jewellery trends and an effective way to express your personal style and show off your favourite treasures—but it can be intimidating to know where to start. The best way to approach this look is not to overthink it too much! Here are a few simple steps to get you started:
step 1. Start with the shortest necklace first. Choose a classic, or minimal piece at the base of the neck. Keep in mind that layers should make up one cohesive look instead of competing with too many details. A staple piece that adds texture is ideal. This can be as simple as a classic chain.
step 2. If you’re layering three necklaces together, you can get a little more playful with your second choice, as this will be the feature design. The “frame” created by the top and bottom necklaces often draw the eye to the centre—so make it count! The centre piece is a great place to add a necklace with meaning. Our favourite pick? Something personal, like a Monogram Necklace to celebrate someone special.
step 3. The final choice in your three-layer look! Add something at the end that creates a “V” shape. We like to think of this trick as the “vertical stripes” of necklace layering! The flattering effect of this look is universal. We love how this finishing touch elongates the neck.
bonus tips. Before putting on chain necklaces, run your fingers along the chain with the clasp undone, to remove any twists in the links. This will help keep your necklaces from tangling! Want the look without the fuss? Opt for designs that have the layers already done for you like our Athena Necklace!
