Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) has partnered with Swedish rescue technology company RECCO to bring reflector technology to Canada. The tech makes lost people searchable in the backcountry. As of now, all MEC-label packs sold by MEC will contain a RECCO reflector that makes them searchable to search-and-rescue (SAR) teams in British Columbia that have the corresponding helicopter detector. This ground-breaking technology introduces an innovative way to prevent all outdoor enthusiasts from getting lost in the wilderness, with SAR teams able to search farther and faster.
