7 Halloween Costumes For The Kiddos

October 18, 2020

Have you heard the news? Halloween 2020 is a go! Many of Canada’s top health officials are on board with trick or treating and are even going so far as to call it a safe outdoor activity if done responsibly (read: physical distancing and social bubbles). We can’t wait to spoil our little ones with a fun night out after everything they’ve sacrificed this year and, let’s be honest, dressing them up is as entertaining for us as it is for them! Whether you’re after something cute, something clever or just plain silly, have a peek below for a few gems we’ve unearthed on the world wide web. —Rachel Johnston

Ever told your baby they’re so cute you could eat them up? It’s a pretty odd expression but we couldn’t resist this adorable lobster piece ($82 at Walmart)—with a cosy antennae hood, booties and handy snaps for diaper changes, too.

With a dress, hat, leggings and boot-tops included, Bed Bath and Beyond’s garden gnome guise ($57) is the whole shebang for a crisp Halloween eve. And heck, you may even inspire a future green thumb in the family.

It’s never too early for a bit of musical education. Introduce the good stuff with this cheerful yellow submarine get-up by Pottery Barn Kids ($58)—yarn-dyed and boasting a periscope, headlights and fin.

This shimmery Ariel ensemble by Disguise Kids is fuelling our nostalgia big time. The simple design allows space for your own spin, like a ruby red wig or sea-inspired slippers.

How convenient is a light-up costume in a swarm of trick or treaters? There will be no losing sight of your little pterodactyl in this creation ($89 at Pottery Barn Kids), decked in battery operated LED lights and shiny scales.

With a nod to our healthcare heroes, Melissa & Doug’s doctor suit ($35 on well.ca) comes along with a name tag, syringe and even a mask—talk about COVID-friendly!

Ah, puppies. It seems every toddler is enthralled with the little furballs and our animal-loving super-littles are no exception. We were thrilled to snag this fluffy delight ($62 at Pottery Barn Kids), featuring boa soft fabric and faux fur to keep them cosy for their first trick or treating experience.
