6 Natural Beauty Products To Add To Your Routine This Winter

November 10, 2020

Thanks to the turmoil that has been 2020, we somehow blinked and found ourselves staring directly into the imminent start of winter. And, whenever the weather turns cold, we tend to spend more time pampering ourselves with skin-care prods that have the power to keep us hydrated and cosy. So before the season officially starts, stock up on our top winter beauty picks from natural-based brands. —Vicki Duong

face wash. Known as a great deep cleanse without being abrasive, apple cider vinegar is a superstar ingredient when it comes to skin care. It can help reduce blackheads and acne spots while gently exfoliating and removing dead skin. We’ve been loving Apple Cider Vinegar Face Wash ($15) from WOW Skincare for a morning or evening cleanse. Bonus: it comes with a silicone facial brush for an even deeper clean.

moisturizer. With sustainability in mind, Tata Harper has introduced refills in its newest product, Water-Lock Moisturizer ($90). Not only is the packaging mindful of the planet, the formula features natural peptides to help strengthen skin’s natural barriers while retaining water. Tata Harper is also certified clean at Sephora, meaning it doesn’t contain sulfates, parabens and more.

luminizer. With less sunshine, we’ve been finding our skin duller than usual. Fear not: with Sappho Cosmetics’ Skin Luminizer ($34) you can add your own glow whenever and wherever you need it most. It provides just the right amount of dewiness in an easy-to-apply cream formula, plus partial proceeds of every sale support art programs for inner-city and Indigenous youths in Vancouver.

dry shampoo. While we love dry shampoo, our strands are on the fence about it. A lot of traditional dries can be overly, well, drying, itchy and hard to work with, especially if you have dark hair. Mars Sand Dry Shampoo ($33) from Luna Nectar is here to be your new hair hero. Not only does it disappear in dark tones, it’s infused with hair-boosting adaptogens to aid hair health.

leave-in conditioner. Brittle hair in colder weather is a thing of the past with new Biolage all-in-one Coconut Infusion Benefit Spray ($30), perfect for any hair type, wet or dry. Think of this as the ultimate hair multi-tasker. It detangles, strengthens, protects from heat, adds shine and more! It also leaves a lovely “just-out-of-the-salon” scent on your tresses.

hand cream. Handwashing and high concentrations of alcohol in hand sanitizer has made our hands drier than ever. Delivering in hydration and comfort, our go-to as of late has been EOS’ Shea Better hand creams ($3). Available in five scents, our personal pick is the lavender, with notes of warm sandalwood; it reminds us of our favourite cosy sweater.
