6 Face Masks We Really, Really Love

January 14, 2021

Face masks: they’ve become a standard (necessary) part of our OOTDs. But not all face masks are created equal. Here, six we’ve tried and loved—and live in fear of losing! (Bonus: five are made by Canadian brands!) —Vita Daily

olive + splash. This Toronto brand’s zero-elastic face mask ($11) replaces standard elastic ear loops with ultra-light-weight and butter-soft bamboo stretch material for the ultra comfort. For extra fun, snag it in a limited-edition print born from a collab with Benefit Cosmetics.

aritzia. Vancouver-based Aritzia’s range of face masks boast a variety of styles, from sculpted to sport, but the ones we love best are the newly dropped silky-knit seamless ($10) with gathered sides and fitted ear loops, and the uber-trendy Super Puff ($12)—warm, water repellent and available in three fabric types.

slip. Like the pillowcase? You’ll love this washable, reusable face covering from Slip ($53 at Nordstrom), featuring an adjustable nose wire, adjustable ear straps, a mulberry silk outer layer and an inner cotton lining plus two fun animal prints!

threads. Toronto’s Threads offers a standard mask that’s no-frills, high-quality, cost-effective and comfortable. Reusable and washable (and sold in packs of two, so you can wear one while the other one is in the wash; $15), they’re made of 14 per cent elastane, meaning they have a lot of stretch and mould well around your face—read, no more adjusting your mask every few minutes.

huha. Vancouver healthy undie-maker Huha recently released a mineral mask (from $16) made the same ultra-soft fabrics as their panties, including a zinc-infused liner that wards off bacteria and keeps skin breathing fresh while keeping you protected. Available in two or three layers.

freed. Historic Winnipeg outerwear company Freed makes adult face masks (from $16) that are breathable, comfortable and environmentally responsible. Made of two-ply, soft and primarily recycled modal cotton, they fit perfectly, have adjustable ear straps and can be worn comfortably all day. (Check out the brand’s collab with Indigo Arrows, offering masks inspired by Indigenous artistry!)
