Hi Yvonna! How do you use your platform to impact those who follow you?

I think through the years, instead of just using my platform to showcase fashion, beauty, travel and parenting advice or baby products, which are all wonderful things, I try to use my platform to raise awareness for organizations that empower young girls like One Girl Can and support families and children like Ronald McDonald House B.C & Yukon, BC, and I think it has been even more fulfilling to be able to inspire someone to give back in some way through my social media.

What’s your personal style mantra/philosophy?

I think my personal style has always been to have “ME” wear the clothes instead of the other way around. I want to own each look I put out and not to be consumed by brand names and I think that is what true style is. I love to mix high-end designer accessories with more high-fashion and affordable pieces to make the look unique, relatable and stylish.

Happy Chinese New Year! What’s your favourite thing about this time of year—and how do you celebrate with family and friends?

Not so much now since I am an adult but, as a kid, I loved Chinese New Year because we get lucky packets with money and that was really special from the adults. Now, I think just gathering together and eating food my parents make is the best. My favourite is Chinese New Year cake or Niángāo, Deep friend Mochi Sesame Balls called Jian Dui my mom makes and these dried candied sweets called Tang Gua which comes in a beautiful platter!

It’s the Year of the Ox: what animal sign were you born under?

I was born in the Year of the Pig!

What are your wishes for the New Year?

Well, Chinese people are all about prosperity and feng shui so of course that but, this year, I like everyone else wish for things to go back to the old normal and that we can gather together and see each other without fear again.

What’s your top gift/product pick for Chinese Lunar New Year 2021?

For Lunar New Year you have to wear something red, whether it’s a festive coat or sweater (since it’s still winter!), a traditional dress or, simply, your favourite red lipstick. Charlotte Tilbury’s LNY collection includes three shades perfect for the occasion, including her new Matte Revolution lipstick in Lucky Cherry, which comes in gold-studded lucky red packaging ($43).
