The Love Your City campaign, in partnership with Vancouver Business Improvement Associations, is a celebration that’s full of local heart!
This year, 16 BIAs in Vancouver are teaming up to host a month-long #LoveYourCity #FindLove initiative throughout February. Explore local neighbourhoods and discover colourful street installations, fun-loving contests and unique experiences meant to warm hearts, like giant “candy” hearts (Instagrammable but not edible), eye-catching murals and umbrella installations, and heartfelt community chalkboards. Our local neighbourhoods have love to share, and by discovering it this month, you could win up to $5,000 in prizes!
There are 16 neighbourhoods participating in the initiative, including Cambie, Collingwood, Downtown Vancouver, Dunbar, the East Village, Gastown, Marpole, Mount Pleasant, Point Grey, Robson, Strathcona, South Granville, West 4th Avenue, West Broadway, West End and Yaletown. Various BIAs are also sharing love by donating to a charity. Some are working with local not-for-profits in their area, like a food bank, while others are donating to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (February is heart month in Canada).
Since we’re all more familiar with adventuring through the city on walks these days, it’s the perfect reason to get out and explore your local area and support small businesses. All you have to do is visit the Instagrammable spots in any of the aforementioned neighbourhoods to celebrate love. When you do, be sure to snap some photos and tag the individual neighbourhood on social media to enter daily contests, including the hashtags #LoveYourCityContest and #FindLove[Neighbourhood] (for whichever neighbourhood you’re in, like #FindLoveGastown or #FindLoveWestEnd).
This prize-filled month of love includes local contests on a regular basis, and a grand prize to look forward to! Each love-themed installation will have a QR code that explains the details of each neighbourhood contest, along with directions on how to win the overall grand prize. The winner of this all-encompassing prize will take home gift cards and hotel stays worth up to $5,000!
There has never been a better time to rediscover the spots you know and love in your city (and maybe some new ones, too).
