Indulge In Plant Balls At Ikea

March 2, 2021

While there’s plenty for us veggies to eat at Ikea, we’re always happy to see more meatless items hit the cafeteria menu!

As of yesterday, Ikea Canada has “rolled out” the plant ball as a sustainable, vegetarian alternative to the much-loved traditional meatball. The plant-based alternative made with pea protein, oats, potatoes, onion and apples gives a familiar experience with the same taste and texture to its meaty counterpart, just without the meat. The plant ball has only 4 per cent of the climate footprint as the traditional meatball and contributes to Ikea’s ambition to become climate positive by 2030. The new recipe contains no animal ingredients, making it a delicious option for meat lovers, flexitarians, vegetarians, and vegans alike.

Bonus: you can also enjoy the plant ball at home, with frozen bags available for only $7 in Swedish Food Markets (located near the cash) nationwide. Either way, enjoy it with a veggie hot dog and strawberry vegan soft ice as part of Ikea’s latest plant-based offerings. —Vita Daily
