Launching tomorrow, Pure Sunfarms Marketplace is a collection of apparel, accessories, objects and art inspired by a love of plants and modern life. The company has teamed up with Canadian makers and artists on exclusive collabs to produce high-quality goods—T-shirts, totes, ceramics and soaps—that bring the greenhouse into your house. We chatted with Nectrous Botanicals‘ Alexandra Hulley, whose Grower’s Hand Soap is part of this unique collection. —Vita Daily
Hi Alexandra! Please tell us a bit about yourself to start.
Hi! I’m the founder and chief soapmaker of Nectrous Botanicals. I started Nectrous as an exploration of the nourishing properties of plant oils and extracts, and how those elements could be combined with essential oils to make some pretty great things.
How did this partnership with Pure Sunfarms come about? What product, in collab with Nectrous, is being offered, and what makes it special/unique?
The Pure Sunfarms team reached out last year and told me about how they wanted to collaborate on a series of really beautiful, intentional wares to enhance your daily routine and home. We talked about our mutual love of gardening, and decided to make a growers hand soap for washing away dirt after a day in the garden. We had our initial brainstorming conversations in some of the darkest and greyest months of the year where I found myself daydreaming about warmer weather constantly, so that became the inspiration for the bars. As a hand soap the base had to be extra moisturizing, but to bring in that feeling of summer I blended in bright, warm lemongrass and fresh green fir. Topped off with a turmeric ripple as an aesthetic nod to sunshine, it’s an ode to the summer sun.
What role does/do you see cannabis playing in beauty/self-care?
Cannabis has such a wide variety of applications that can make it a perfect part of your self care routine. Self care is deeply personal and unique to each person, which makes cannabis a perfect partner as it’s so versatile.
What other items from the Marketplace do you love?
The entire collection is gorgeous, but I absolutely love the Critical Kali Mist tote with the painting by Laura Garcia Servanti on the side. It’s perfection. I also love the Nathalee Paolinelli porcelain tray and the big, cosy Sunshine sweater.
