Virtual Beauty Is All About The Brows: Here’s How To Shape Yours Like A Pro

March 29, 2021

Defined brows—they can literally change your face on Zoom! Plus, they’re a less-costly alternative to a face lift or under eye fillers. “Eyebrows truly frame your face,” agrees Alissa Fiorito, founder and owner of Montreal’s Le Brow Bar. While her full, Indian-Italian arches are to-die-for and the product of her salon’s signature threading technique, she recommends investing in tools that do most of the handiwork for you at home.

Along with a spoolie, a brow pencil is all you really need. Fiorito recommends choosing a shade of pencil that’s slightly lighter than your actual brow hair (since darker shades can be harder to correct and blend). The first step to filling-in your brows is to start making upward strokes from the front to middle section of your brow. When you get to the arch, brush the hairs downward to conceal sparse areas, then brush upward to “make things look natural”. Full Brow Cosmetics makes one of Fiorito’s go-to all-in-one tools called Skinny Brow: a super-precise brow pencil that’s perfect for adding definition to your brows on its own or with powder. With a firm spoolie that grabs onto individual hairs to create a brushed-out look, the Skinny Brow combo also comes in three easy, skin-loving shades full of vitamins C and E.

The new Brow Glue Instant Brow Styler by NYX is a transparent gel that’s flake-resistant, non-sticky, and mess-free. Though it offers a 16-hour extreme hold, it has an undetectable natural finish and is effortless to apply; simply brush on and style in place.

Fiorito swears by Agent Nateur’s new daily supplement made in collaboration with Dr. Will Cole, Holi (Mane). Its star ingredients, marine collagen and pearl powder, are odourless, tasteless, and rich in over 30 trace minerals including silica, magnesium, calcium and potassium that support optimal hair, skin and nail health. A biohacker in its own right, the amino acids that Holi (Mane) contains help produce the appearance of collagen and hydration. Basically, it’s the perfect thing to add to your tea, coffee or even your salad dressing if you want fuller, stronger brow hair.

The new Brow Microfilling Pen from Benefit Cosmetics has gained a cult-like following since its initial release back in August 2020. Available in four versatile shades, it creates microfine strokes that mimic even the finest eyebrow hairs. Plus, it’s smudge-proof and long-wearing.

Instead of having lash extensions applied monthly (which cost around $200 for an initial set and about $80 for a refill every three to four weeks), you can grow thicker, longer lashes and brows with Luna Nectar’s famous Moon Boost Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum for just $25 per month (and the tube lasts three!). The pH-balanced formula is filled with hydrating and lengthening ingredients like aloe, castor oil, algae and horsetail, and offers an all-natural, vegan, and cruelty-free solution for quicker growth.
