How does a five-course Mother’s Day menu sound? Choose between Torafuku’s Hainanese chicken with steamed shiitake mushroom rice or a truffle dashi beurre monté sea bream with a creamy yaki udon. Either main course includes a salad of Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli and crispy quinoa, plus a sea urchin omelette, a grilled spring vegetable dish and yuzu basque cheesecake or an elderflower madeleine cake for dessert (from $85).
Fable Diner’s Mother’s Day Brunch at Home package ($55) includes classics like scrambled eggs, thick-cut bacon, cornmeal pancakes and other home-cookin’ goodies. Serves four, and you can also add loaded French toast or avocado, coffee, juice and pre-mixed passion fruit Mimosa bottles.
Mother’s Day Continental Brunch ($60) from new eatery Maxine’s serves two and includes croissants, banana oat muffins and coffee cake, Bircher muesli, fennel salumi, shaved ham, artisan cheese, soft-boiled egg, smoked salmon and bagels plus Hannah Brook Farm salad.
Farina a Legna’s Mother’s Day Picnic Basket for Two ($65) comes with charcuterie, pickled veg, olives, focaccia, house-made jam, and beverages of choice including Aperol Spritz or Lurisia Soda. This nifty basket is loaded up with two vintage glasses, plates, napkins and utensils, too—so off you go to the park or back home if it’s a rain out. Either way, lovely.
How gorgeous is this Chirashi sushi platter, for a Japanese-inspired Mother’s Day? From Yuwa Japanese Cuisine, this technicolour selection of premium fish like B.C. uni and firefly squid, plus fresh, seasonal, spring vegetables like fiddleheads and asparagus ($110) serves two to three people.
Think you can’t take mom out for brunch this year? Think again. Treat your mum this Mother’s Day to brunch in the park with Stanley Park Brewing. A special menu, including three courses and a kids menu, will be served on the patio. Book here ($55 per adult; $20 per child 10 and under) and enjoy such delights as spent grain granola, pork belly benedict, lemon merigue pancakes and more.
