Vicki’s 6 Top Spring Beauty Picks

May 4, 2021

As we enter into warmer weather, I find myself surprised at how quickly spring has crept up on me. I love to switch out my beauty products to better suit the seasons and, with tonnes of new beauty launches, it’s been a great couple of for some new favourites to make their way into my rotation. Here are some new products I tried in April that I cannot recommend enough. —Vicki Duong

moroccanoil body butter. If you’re a fan of the iconic Moroccanoil hair-care scent, you’ll be delighted to know that they also make body products. From a hand cream to a shower gel and everything in-between, you can smell delicious from head-to-toe with Moroccanoil. My personal favourite product is the Body Butter ($62), jammed pack with argan oil to nourish and hydrate your skin while being quick absorbing and non greasy.

kms moist repair hydrating oil. As much as I have been enjoying spending more time outdoors, like with skin, I have been finding more time in the sun also leaves my tresses feeling the effects. Luckily, KMS has added to its Moist Repair collection a Hydrating Oil ($32) to keep locks lush. The formula is lightweight enough for daily use and adds a glossy finish that adds a bit of life back into my hair.

skinceuticals c e ferulic. With more sun exposure comes more sun damage, but fret not, it’s Skinceuticals C E Ferulic ($190) to the rescue! A powerful vitamin C serum that combats dullness and uneven skin tone while also providing environmental protection, consider this a superhero in a bottle— only a few drops are needed to give your skin a dose of pure vitamins C and E, plus ferulic acid, an antioxidant to fight the signs of aging.

midnight paloma multi-mist. Local Vancouver brand Midnight Paloma knocks it out of the park again with its newest addition, a Multi Mist ($39) that’s the perfect multi-tasker. Whether you’re looking to add an extra oompf of hydration to your routine or to set your makeup, this mist adds moisture plus brightens and revitalizes. I love the addition of lavender water to instantly destress the skin while leaving behind a pleasant scent.

venus 2-in-1 cleanser + shave gel. Not all cleansers and shave creams are made equal and, when it comes to your bikini line, it’s important to take pH balance into consideration when choosing shaving products. New Venus 2-in-1 Cleanser + Shave Gel ($23) is a gentle formula that hydrates your hair while also providing a protective layer to prevent shaving irritation, plus it’s 100 per cent soap free and fragrance free!

attitude spf 30 sunscreen stick. Ideal for mess-free and on-the-go sun protection, these Attitude SPF 30 Sunscreen Sticks ($23) are a no brainer for my beach bag. Not only does this natural zinc oxide-based sunscreen provide protection, it also comes in cardboard packaging that is fully biodegradable!
