Vancouver’s historic Gastown has been transformed into a plein-air dining oasis in the heart of downtown Vancouver—and if you’re in town this summer, you should definitely go!
With 33 (and counting) patios and more than 500 outdoor seats in an eight-block radius, Patiotown is the densest patio district in the city. The famous flower baskets are hung, the cobblestones are swept, the sun is shining and Patiotown is happy to welcome back locals for the fun, food and festivity it has always been known for. Seventy-five oversized branded patio umbrellas provide a shady oasis and, starting on July 1, there’s live music on Thursday nights, called Gastown Unplugged. But wait—there’s more: Thursdays are all-day Happy Hour with special offers from bars, restaurants and even retailers.
Come see the new murals, enjoy music in multiple locations, have an urban picnic in the pop-up plaza in Maple Tree Square and explore the many brand-new, newly re-opened and pop-up businesses (insider tip: don’t miss the Anna Kosturova pop-up surf shop, bursting with the designer’s creative crochets and serving up Plenty hard kombucha). Also in full swing is Gastown Tomorrow, the initiative that invites Vancouverites to envision the Gastown of the future. —Vita Daily
