To celebrate this launch, BAND-AID® Brand collaborated with several Canadian partners, including life coach and motivational speaker Raia “Coach” Carey, each of whom brought a unique, diverse and personal perspective to create the New Aid Kit—a reimagining of what a first-aid kit could be. “As a POC and someone who knew that my community would benefit from this, it felt like a great partnership,” says Coach Carey. “As a bit of a troublemaker, you can imagine the amount of bandages my parents went through with me as a kid … A LOT. I remember wanting to take them off if we were going out for a family dinner. There was no option for darker skin tones. To have a launch that complements the skin tones of my family members—it means a lot.”

Representation, even in seemingly small places, matters in big ways, she adds. “It’s inspiring to see the wellness industry become more inclusive and representative of all communities. This campaign really brought inclusivity to the forefront with my story, as well as all of the other Canadian voices, to highlight other holistic ways to heal beyond wound care.”

For the New Aid Kit, packed with the three new shades of Flexible Fabric Adhesive Bandages plus items to encourage other ways to heal beyond wound care, Coach Carey focused on a mindfulness theme. “Mindfulness is a meditation-based technique that can help you manage your thoughts, feelings and mental health,” she explains. “I meditate every day, and if you’ve ever been to one of my meditations, the first thing I do is light a candle. This allows me to set the tone of my space and sends a signal to the brain that I am safe and that allows my nervous system to relax after a long day. I am all about my cozy boii vibes, and candles always bring me a sense of peace.”

As for what she’ll be using the new tones of BAND-AID® Brand Flexible Fabric Adhesive Bandages for, Coach Carey points first to her work as a content creator, saying, “It can get tricky when I have a cut or bruise that I don’t want to show online. Having a bandage that is better able to blend into my skin tone means I don’t have to learn Photoshop—which I love!”
