So, why not go big this Labour Day weekend by unleashing your inner mixologist? Stir up these three elevated takes on vodka soda and send summer away with a splash. —Noa Nichol
Signature Skyy & Soda
1½ parts Skyy Vodka
4½ parts soda
Cubed ice
Fill a highball glass with cubed ice. Add 1½ parts of Skyy Vodka. Top with soda water. Squeeze the grapefruit peel over the top and add to the cocktail as garnish.
Turtledove
2 parts Skyy Vodka
1 part grapefruit juice
½ part simple syrup
2 basil leaves
Pinch of salt
4 parts soda
Add first five ingredients to tin and shake with ice. Strain into Collins glass. Top with soda and garnish.
Sparkling Lavender Lemonade
1½ parts Skyy Vodka
1 part lemon juice
¾ part lavender syrup*
4 parts soda
Add first three ingredients to tins and shake with ice. Strain into collins glass. Top with soda and garnish. *To make lavender syrup, bring 500ml water to a boil. Remove from heat. Add 4g dried lavender flowers and steep for four minutes. Strain and stir in 500g sugar until dissolved. Allow to cool. Bottle.
