Rogan The Painting Dog Helps Rescues

September 7, 2021

Here’s a reason to bark: Rogan, the renowned painting dog from Medicine Hat, Alberta, has partnered with Vancouver Island-based Foley Dog Treat Company to raise funds for Alberta Herding Dog Rescue.

Rogan has painted a limited-edition dog treat bag and curated his own recipe (featuring Alberta Beef Liver and BC Blueberries) to give to the organization he loves dearly. Each 170g bag sells for $10 online and, with 500 bags produced, all sales will be going to Alberta Herding Dog Rescue.

Rogan, a miniature Australian shepherd from Medicine Hat, Alta., started painting in 2020. His owner, Megan Bolen, says it was supposed to be something fun to do together. To date, Rogan has painted over 200 paintings and has raised more than $5,000 for local rescues. His work appeared in an art exhibit in Hong Kong earlier this year resulting in one of his biggest accomplishments thus far.

“We were ecstatic when we got a message from Foley Dog Treat Company on this special project!” says Megan. “The fact that they are based in Canada and their ingredients are locally sourced and human-grade align perfectly with our values and Rogan’s diet. And we get another opportunity to raise money for local charities—it’s a win-win.” —Vita Daily
