Today, Canadian intimates and apparel brand Knix launched Life After Birth: Portraits of Love and the Beauty of Parenthood—a coffee table book ($60) that features imagery and personal stories surrounding every stage of parenthood and the postpartum experience.
Created in partnership with Carriage House Birth, an org that aims to deepen the practices of Doulas and provide birth and postpartum services for families, the Life After Birth project began as a travelling gallery that highlights women’s postpartum journeys, as well as the stories that honour their transformative birthing experiences. The new book features inspiring stories from everyday people, along with notable celebrities such as Amy Schumer, Rocky Barnes, Gabrielle Union-Wade, Bozoma Saint John, Shanola Hampton and more. The book’s forward was written by Knix Global Ambassador and expecting mother Ashley Graham.
Through the launch of Life After Birth, Knix aims to tackle the misconceptions and taboos surrounding the birthing experience by celebrating, and bringing awareness to, everything that comes with pregnancy. The best part? All of Knix and Carriage House Birth’s proceeds will be donated to The Black Women’s Health Imperative to support a postpartum doula training program designed around the needs of Black birthing families. —Vita Daily
