Handbag For A Working Girl (Win!)

One of our fave Vancouver lifestyle influencers, Sydney Socias a.k.a the Working Girl, has launched a stunning new handbag line with Canadian vegan-leather brand, Lark + Ives. Together, they’ve created the perfect mid-size tote bag, complete with an organization insert that also doubles as an additional crossbody bag. Launched last month, we caught up with Sydney (who has her hands full, not just with the bag, but with a new baby and a move) to find out more! —Noa Nichol

Hi Sydney! How have you been? What’s new (including the obvious new baby!)?

I’ve been doing really well! Soaking up becoming a new mom, in the middle of moving into a new home and recently launched a handbag line. Life is good.

How did your most current style collab, with Canadian vegan-leather brand Lark + Ives, come about, and what made it a good fit for you?

They had sent me some of their cute hand sanitizer cases over the holidays (2020) and we quickly started discussing potential partnership opportunities. I was instantly hooked on the style and aesthetic of their products, but Lark + Ives is a Canadian brand—female founded, specializing in vegan-leather goods. They are providing luxury products, without the price tag. All of these things aligned with me and my brand, so it was naturally an excellent fit to collaborate on a product launch.

What handbags are you offering in the special collection? What makes them unique?

This collaboration offers one handbag, a two-in-one solution to keep you organized on-the-go. The Work-it Tote is our mid-size tote bag. It comes with a removable + adjustable shoulder strap and top handle, as well as the real star of the show! Our divider insert, that houses five interior pocket compartments and three exterior pockets, so you can keep all your smaller items organized. I was sick of having my stuff roll around at the bottom of my bag all the time! Whenever I’d need to get something out, I could never find what I was looking for. This divider insert eliminates that headache. Plus, it comes with a removable chain shoulder strap, so you can wear it as its own crossbody bag.

We may not be going out as much anymore, but why do you think having the right handbag remains important today?

The right handbag helps tie everything together! It completes the look. Even though we might not be going out as much right now, you’ll have one in your wardrobe that offers organization, versatility and that can take you from work to dinner and everything in between. A timeless classic. Every girl needs a great handbag.
