6 Holiday Wine Packs Perfect for Gifting (Or Not!)

December 10, 2021

Not sure what to get for the loved one on your list who has everything? Come a little closer and we’ll tell you. It’s wine. Get them wine. We’ve done the legwork for you and rounded up the best of B.C.-based wine giving. And to make sure your jingle juice arrives on time, best to order early as some are in limited supply. Let the merry begin! —Janet Helou

Apéro Mode: You simply cannot go wrong with a thoughtfully curated two-bottle pack put together by one of B.C.’s top somms and founder of Apéro Mode, Maude Renaud-Brisson. Each Holiday Pack includes one bottle of Pinot Noir-based Pet Nat sparkling wine by Lightning Rock, as well as a bottle of 2018 Château du Hureau “Tuffe” Saumur-Champgny—an elegant and structured Loire Valley Cabernet Franc. Each pack also has in-depth wine notes so you can learn while you sip (who said wine wasn’t educational!) Shipping anywhere in the province is just a $15 flat fee, or pick up free of charge at The American (926 Main St.) in Vancouver. Quantities are limited so best to order post haste!

Naramata Love Box: Another knockout lineup, this one from an assembly of Naramata-based wineries with a bonus spirits addition. Each kit contains a Bella Wines Blanc de Blanc perfect for holiday brunch, a library release Lock & Worth Semillon or Cabernet Franc from Elephant Island to elevate that celebratory dinner with friends, a skin contact Pinot Gris from Nichol Vineyard perfect for herbed infused poultry and last but not least a Syrah Viognier blend from Daydreamer Wines for the roast beast (we know there might be a few of those on the horizon).  And for the pre- or post-dinner sip, the iconic Manhattan Cocktail, perfectly pre-batched from Legend Distilling. Talk about making spirits bright!

Ex Nihilo: This Lake Country gem has gone above and beyond with its holiday gift packs; one look at the Wine-ter Wonderland Bundle or the Wine Advent Calendar says cosy holiday indulgence, wrapped up with a bow! From wine bundles and Ex Nihilo wearables to packages with specialty items and unique winery experiences. Gift giving has never been easier.

Joie Farm: Not that anyone needed an extra excuse to sip on Joie Farm’s beautifully crafted Naramata Bench wines, but partnering with Vancouver-based jewelry designer Leah Alexandra might just be the pearl in the oyster. Literally. Gift (or get) two bottles of 2019 Quotidien Brut and a rosé pearl pendant on a 14K-gold box-chain necklace, or buy separately with any Joie Farm wine purchased. Or snag one of the limited-edition magnums of the iconic PTG (Pinot/Gamay) signed by winemaker Heidi Noble and packed in a custom wood box. Joie to the world!

The Hatch: The beloved eccentric West Kelowna winery has once again stolen our hearts and imaginations with its 12 Days of Hatchmas box set of a dozen bottles, perfect for the festive holiday season ahead. Although light on details of its contents, a winery that puts out a wine called A Gris to Disagree should be trusted to deliver a tasty and imaginative pack of wine. Perfectly paired with good company and an air of delightful unseriousness.

Cedar Creek: Cedar Creek’s wines deliver consistent quality that speaks to the terroir of the North Okanagan where the beautiful winery sits. They’ve thoughtfully prepared wine kits to suit anyone on your holiday list. Your wines are packed in a complimentary gift box and shipped directly to you or your loved one with your personal gift message.
