Hi both! When and why did you launch Glow Recipe? What niche were/are you aiming to fill?

Sarah Lee: From a very young age, Christine and I both learned from our mothers and grandmothers that skin care is a lifestyle and the process should be enjoyable. We took inspiration from our shared Korean heritage and launched Glow Recipe in 2014, initially as an e-commerce destination for Korean beauty finds. In 2017 the namesake Glow Recipe brand was born with the debut of what became our best-selling Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask and cult-favourite Blueberry Bounce Cleanser.

Christine Chang: The Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask specifically was inspired by a childhood memory of our Korean grandmothers. We both had the memory of having them rub watermelon rind on the skin in the hot summer months to help soothe irritation and heat rash. With these products, we aim to provide first-to-market innovations paired with education to empower consumers to bring out their glow and embrace real skin acceptance.

What products do you currently offer, and what makes them unique?

Sarah Lee: We offer a range of fruit-forward, clinically effective skin care products designed to treat skin based on its daily changing needs, ultimately for glowing skin. We truly believe in the philosophy of taking it day by day, skin by skin because we know that skin changes daily. We want to empower everyone to love and treat your skin based on its ever-changing needs.

What are the bestsellers, and why do people love them?

Christine Chang: Earlier this year, we went viral on TikTok for our Watermelon BHA+PHA Pore Tight Toner and Watermelon Niacinamide Dew Drops. It was such an exciting moment! Every person who tried the 2 products raved about how they refined the pores, hydrated skin, and enhanced their overall dew – so this duo, nicknamed our “Dewy Duo,” quickly became the rising stars of our brand.

What’s the latest and greatest from Glow Recipe?

Sarah Lee: We just launched our newest innovation, the Plum Plump Hyaluronic Cream! This is a weightless, whipped gel cream that delivers plumping hydration and balances skin, featured in our first-ever refillable glass jar. It took a village and while it took a very long time to develop, it was well worth the hard work as this is another small step to be more sustainable and environmentally conscious as a brand. This creamy, pillowy-soft moisturizer is packed with polyglutamic acid, multi-weight hyaluronic acids, and a blend of 3 antioxidant-rich plum extracts that fill each layer with plumping hydration for juicy skin that lasts.
