Global collaborations like this don’t come around often. H&M has partnered with many a designer and celebrity over the years but honouring the fabulous Iris Apfel on her 100th birthday with a complete collection of garments, shoes and accessories inspired by her eccentric, eclectic style has us counting the days til we can shop.
Set to launch in select H&M stores and online on April 14, the range is as brilliantly bold, as wildly mixed up and as rooted in fun as one would expect. For 100 years, Iris has encouraged us to make big statements with our style. Never, ever the fashion snob, she says “I think H&M is fabulous and are absolute pioneers in their field—which I love! I love doing high style at affordable prices, which H&M has mastered!”
Iris is a self-made woman with a career as an interior decorator and fashion designer known for her highly individual look: short, cropped silver hair, love of luxe fabrics (she once owned a textile company), fearless accessories and jewelry layering—plus those signature oversized black glasses.
Key pieces in this lite-brite coloured capsule include brocade floral suits, wildly ruffled blouses and tiered printed dresses, and chunky accessories and statement jewelry, of course. Materials used are recycled or sustainably sourced, and prices range from $35 to $350.
