Mother’s Day is coming up May 8 so now’s the time to make a reservation to take Mom, or the special caregiver in your life, out on the town. For delightful brunches and mouth-watering lunches there are options across Vancouver that are sure to make Mom feel appreciated. Hot tip: always spring for dessert, she deserves it! —Jenn Wint

botanist. Treat Mom to a premier fine dining experience with a locally inspired brunch at Botanist. The three-course menu by Executive Chef Hector Laguna begins with sparkling wine and includes a handcrafted cocktail in addition to fresh culinary delights. This relaxing dining environment in the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel will leave Mom feeling spoiled. Try the Salmon tartine on open-faced sourdough and homemade burrata salad with spring vegetables and marinated olives. After a choice of mains, end on a sweet note with the delicious white chocolate lychee mousse. Reservations available May 7 and May 8.

Choose from three exceptional dining experiences in the Westin’s signature venues: H Tasting Lounge and H2 Rotisserie & Bar. From a private, dome-shaped breakfast nook in the secret garden, to the tradition of afternoon tea to a buffet-style offering, there’s something form every Mom. Menu options include a refreshing coconut-and-kale smoothie bowl, eggs Benedict topped with spinach and tender Tyrolean ham, smoked Pacific wild salmon blini with Northern Divine caviar, fresh seafood and plenty of options for kids. bacchus restaurant. Wedgewood Hotel’s Bacchus Restaurant celebrates Mom with an exquisite Mother’s Day brunch Table d’Hôte Menu. From a classic salmon crab cake benedict and liege waffles to hearty pulled pork on jalapeño cornbread, choose from a variety of sweet and savoury options for everyone in the family. Begin your experience with the house-made Bacchus pastry basket. For dessert try the Ricotta Honey Tart and Butterscotch Pudding. Reservations available May 8.

bruno at the versante hotel. Visit Richmond’s only boutique hotel for a decadent Mother’s Day multi-course brunch. Mom will be thrilled with the selection of savoury delights, including smoked salmon avocado toast, quiche Lorraine and Fraser Valley smoked sausage. Seafood options feature tuna and crab poke, oysters and chilled shellfish. Indulge your sweet tooth with house made macarons, truffles, and strawberry shortcake cupcakes crafted by the restaurant’s own pastry chef. Add a complimentary glass of bubbles to celebrate Mom. Reservations available May 7 and 8 with various seating options.

pacific institute of culinary arts’ blue hat bistro. Spoil Mom with a Mother’s Day High Tea prepared by the next generation of culinary and wine professionals. Sip tea from local merchants while enjoying the stunning water, city and mountain views. The menu, featuring both sweet and savory goodies is prepared in-house by pastry chef-instructors and Advanced Culinary and Baking & Pastry students. Delicious savory dishes include shrimp vol au vent with green peas hummus and mini candied bacon and gruyère quiche. For dessert try the matcha mousse entremets with blueberry compote and lemon or the lime cheesecake with fresh berries. Reservations available May 6.

railtown catering. For a take-home or picnic option that’s sure to impress, try Railtown’s Mother’s Day Menu. This brunch package serves four people and is served cold so it’s perfect to pick up and eat right away, no prep required. Enjoy mascarpone stuffed figs, ahi tuna carpaccio and fresh baguette and sourdough crostini topped with delicious spreads. Dessert is included and add-on’s including sangria or prosecco are available. Order early for pick-up May 8.

buttermere patisserie. If you’re looking to bring dessert home, Buttermere Patisserie has created three deliciously flavoured cakes specially for Mother’s Day. Flavours like lemon lavender, guava raspberry, and cherry pistachio will all satisfy Mom’s sweet tooth. Try the Honey Violet. This white glazed honey sponge cake layered with lemon jelly, lavender ganache, lavender mousse, and a honeycomb Rice Krispy crunch is not only delicious but stunning to look at. Decorated in hues of pastel yellow and lavender then topped with lavender macarons, this light and refreshing cake is an ideal palate cleanser to wrap up a satisfying meal. Order early!
