10 Summer Outdoorwear Essentials

While summer seems to be taking its sweet time here on the west coast (they don’t call it Raincouver for nothing), that doesn’t mean we’re not taking advantage of the warmer weather to get outdoors. Below are some of our choice picks for outdoor gear to get us out and about this summer. —Vicki Duong

kodiak boots. The first step, literally, to the perfect outdoor fit is a good pair of hiking boots. One of our fave brands is Kodiak Boots, a Canadian brand designed with all-terrain in mind. We’ve been loving the Kenosee Mid-Cut Waterproof Hiker ($170), a boot made with recycled materials and genuine suede while a thick rubber sole helps aid grip and keeps every stride comfy.

on. While some of us would prefer to stay indoors when it’s rainy, there are options for trail runners who don’t mind getting a little bit wet during their outing. north face. Long-haired outdoor enthusiasts rejoice with this top knot bucket hat ($40) from The North Face. The open design allows for your ponytail or top knot to sit comfortable atop your head while a wide adjustable brim keeps your eyes and face protected from the sun. No bad days here!

smartwool. While a good pair of boots make taking on the trails more manageable, combining your footwear with a suitable pair of socks ensures all day performance and comfort. hunter. While some adventures require a backpack full of supplies, other treks aren’t as strenuous and require something more compact.
