After two years in the making and over 40 trials of formulas, Haus Labs by Lady Gaga has unveiled three new skin-optimizing complexion products, and we’re chatting with Rokael Lizama, celebrity makeup artist and Haus Labs complexion consultant, to learn more! —Noa Nichol
Today, we’re talking about three new ground-breaking, skin-optimizing complexion products from Haus Labs by Lady Gaga; what products are part of this latest launch?
Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation ($45): a clean, weightless, buildable medium coverage foundation, infused with over 20 skincare ingredients. This longwear foundation delivers a natural, second skin, luminous finish. It is suitable for all skin types including sensitive and acne-prone skin. Bio-Blurring Loose Setting Powder ($38): this powder is a clean, skincare infused loose powder that blurs imperfections, smoothes skin and optimizes makeup performance in five talc-free, soft-focus shades. Finely milled pigments deliver a weightless veil of translucent colour with a comfortable, flawless finish. Similar to the foundation, the loose powder with fermented arnica visibly reduces redness and irritation. Other HausTech Powered ingredients include plant squalane to nourish and soften skin, as well as tourmaline to leave skin energized. Foundation Brush ($39): this vegan, cruelty-free brush hugs the face for a seamless application that blurs product onto skin, leaving a natural looking, airbrushed finish. It’s so luxe looking and the short, ergonomic, aluminum handle offers great control for application.
We heard it took more than 20 years and 40-plus trials of formulas to get these products right; why the painstaking process? And, in terms of the final result, was it worth it (why)?
This process was a labour of love. The Haus Labs team really wanted to create a groundbreaking clean, high performance product without compromising skin, animals or the planet. These breakthrough products are truly innovative and we took the time to create a wide range of 51 shades so everyone could find their perfect match.
What are some of the unique ingredients and tech in these products, and how do they work/benefit their effectiveness?
The Haus Labs patent-pending fermented arnica works to visibly reduces redness and irritation. Other skincare ingredients in these products include plant squalene to nourish and soften skin, as well as tourmaline to leave skin energized.
With 51 shades to choose from in the foundation, how do we select the right tones for our skin?
We created six colour families based on skin’s depth and undertones. I always recommend swatching at least three shades that are as close as possible to your skin tone. If you’re unsure of undertone I recommend swatching one shade that is the closest to your skin tone of each undertone category from the lower cheek into the jawline and lightly onto the neck by putting them next to each other you will be able to see which undertone you are and which one compliments your skin tone the most.
What’s “clean” about these products? And, what makes them stand out from the competition?
