Vancouver’s favourite market is back! Featuring 48 local small businesses, the Got Craft Foodie Virtual Market returns online until Sunday, September 25. Shop a curated selection of small-batch goods, including dumplings, baked goods, chocolate, honey, soups and more. Plenty of plant-based, gluten-free, and low-sugar options means everyone can taste these local flavours with flat-fee shipping or free Vancouver curbside pickup on all orders! Below, our top market picks for keeping cosy this upcoming fall season. —Andrea Tong-Tucker
What the Flour: Made with high quality ingredients and nutrient-rich grains, WTF! baking mixes are certified gluten free, vegan friendly, and make an ideal family friendly activity. Just in time for PSL season, make sure to try their new seasonal offerings of the Pumpkin Muffin Mix and the Pumpkin Spice Waffle and Pancake Mix. Goes great with a cup of hot cocoa!
BAK’D: Weighing as much as a hockey puck (5oz!), the new September cookie by BAK’D is a salted caramel brownie—a classic chocolate cookie dough with chocolate chips, stuffed with a salted caramel filling then topped off with a caramel drizzle and sea salt flakes. Pop it in the microwave for an ooey-gooey experience.
Dicky’s Dumps: Nothing warms the belly more than a bowl of Dicky’s Dumps on a cold night! These Chinese-style dumplings hand made using traditional recipes passed through generations can be steamed, boiled and pan-fried. Choose from shrimp + scallop, chicken + ginger, vegetarian and OG pork + chives.
Really Ginger: Loaded with antioxidants and vitamin C, each Really Ginger shot includes 15g of organic Peruvian ginger root to aid with digestion and to boost your immune system. A perfect balance between fiery and sweet, it’s more important than ever, to keep at your best.
What’Soup: Now that hot girl summer has come to an end, it’s time to bring on soup season! Homemade style soups that are gluten free, no sugar added, packed with loads of flavour; stock up on your favourite What’Soup such as chicken Thai curry and vegan cream of mushroom for a quick and easy meal.
Fourth Avenue Treats: Indulge in a slice of hazelnut ganache tart with rum soaked bananas or a flourless brownie by Fourth Avenue Treats—all gluten free and vegan. They strive to create mouth-watering, inclusive baked goods using oat and tiger nut flours.
Charlie Girl Goods: Made from scratch using natural, local ingredients; Charlie Girl Goods’ new offerings just screams C-O-Z-Y. Try their two new old-fashioned caramel flavours – pumpkin spice and cranberry or check out their new collection of handmade gummy bears in assorted fruit flavours that are available as is or dipped in Belgian chocolate.
Holy Duck Chili Oil: Based on a family recipe passed down 3 generations, Holy Duck Chili Oil is a traditional Cantonese condiment made with finely rendered Canadian duck fat and a blend of chilies to give your tongue a tantilizing, yet welcoming, heat. Simply ducking delicious, it goes perfectly with eggs, noodles, rice, and everything in between.
JusTea: Partnering directly with small-scale tea farming families, JusTea ensures that their farmers are paid a fair wage, that they reinvest in the community, and that they offer the freshest, most delicious tea possible. With over a dozen flavours to choose from, enjoy your cup hot or iced, with milk and sugar or without. Pair with a good book and a comfy blanket!
Claudia’s Charcuterie Kitchen: ‘Tis the season for hosting friends and family, Claudia’s Charcuterie Kitchen’s collection of condiments means that you always have something handy in the cupboard that you can whip out to elevate your next charcuterie board. You bring the cheese and meats and then add a side of blueberry earl grey compote or a smoked apple mustard, some spicy honey, maybe an orange fennel mustarda, and voila, you are home party ready!

My favorite snack to pick up at the market would probably be cheese curds.

That would have to be baked goods .. muffins, scones or pastries that look way too good to be passed up. (BTW, When I am at the BC interior markets, on the North Shuswap area, I usually purchase Bannock, deep fried. Worthy of a road trip!! ) @Diamondchick60
