Vicki’s September Beauty Faves

September 30, 2022

While warm days seem to be extending into September, I am getting used to earlier sunsets and brisk weather. For me that means more nights in, cosy knits and a whole new beauty routine. In preparation for the changing season I opt for sunless bronzing options, hydrating skincare and all things TLC. Below are some of my fave products I discovered this past month. —Vicki Duong

skinceuticals. As temps begin to drop, keeping my skin healthy becomes a bit more involved. A new addition to my rotation from SkinCeuticals has my skin looking clearer, lessening the look of texture and blemishes. Their new Phyto A+ Brightening Treatment ($136) works to brighten and target hyperpigmentation with a lightweight finish that pairs well with any skin type, plus it’s gentle enough to use morning or night!

covergirl. With waking up in the mornings being tougher with a later sunrise I have been opting for a simpler makeup routine to sleep in a little bit longer. My go-to as of late is the COVERGIRL Clean Fresh Hydrating Concealer ($10) dotted moderately around problem areas along my t-zone and buffed out to a natural finish. Infused with coconut milk, this conceal provides a natural finish that wears comfortably all day.

matrix. With slickback hairstyles being on trend again, keeping my scalp at optimal strength is of the utmost importance. Fret not, Matrix has you covered with Instacure Tension Reliever Scalp Serum ($25), a leave-in treatment designed specifically to relieve tension with a cooling sensation while promising not to create excess buildup. Plus avocado oil adds a touch of hydration to dry roots.

trinny london. I’ve been on a double cleanse journey in order to ensure every bit of makeup is removed before bed and that I wake up with cleansed and healthy skin. My latest fave balm cleanser is the Be Your Best ($58) by Trinny London. It lifts every bit of makeup without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Best of all? The bottle is refillable for an eco-friendly top-up.

flexitol. Dry lips be damned, the Flexitol Lip Balm ($6) is designed for severely dry lips to not only soothe, but to repair. With urea to exfoliate, your peckers will be as smooth as can be while a lightweight finish makes for easy layering under your fave lipsticks. Bonus, clove oil and menthol also alleviates pain and discomfort of cracked lips.

evio beauty. Starting any makeup routine with a prepped canvas can help ensure not only a seamless application but also long-lasting wearability. My go-to as of late is the Pore-fect Primer ($24) from Evio, a lightweight silicone-free primer that doubles as a skin perfecter and base layer as it minimizes the look of pores.

makeup by mario. Take the guesswork out of a perfect flush with Makeup by Mario’s Soft Pop Blush Stick ($35). This creamy formula glides on top of skin with ease and blends to a seamless buildable finish. The radiant finish adds the perfect amount of glow while the stick applicator makes it ideal for on-the-go.

lush cosmetics. Who doesn’t love the anticipation of a package arriving in the mail? Lush’s newest offering, Kitchen Box ($50/month) provides subscribers with four to five exclusive full-sized products monthly. From cult-classic bath bombs to brightly hued shower gels and cream, this subscription box makes for the ideal gift for the Lushie in your life.

st. tropez. I’m not quite ready to give up my summer glow quite yet and with St. Tropez Gradual Tan Tinted Daily Firming Lotion ($38) I haven’t had to yet. With less intensity than their self-tanning mousse, the lotion is an ideal solution for a natural soft bronze year round. Plus a hydrating blend of oils help plump your skin for a healthy finish.

stila. Make a bold statement with a pop of colour on your lips. With Stila’s newest lipstick, Stay All Day Matte ($22) swiping on a velvety finish is a piece of cake with this impactful and long-lasting formula. My personal fave shade is Kiss & Tell, a bright fuschia that is impressively transfer and mask proof.
