Attention Bachelor Nation! After Gabby and Rachel’s amazing season of the Bachelorette, we’ve all had bond-building on the mind! That why Pantene is partnering with Bachelor Nation sweetheart (and Toronto native) Serena Pitt on their latest campaign focused on the bond-building abilities of Pantene’s Pro-V formula! We had a fun opportunity to have our very own one-on-one date with Serena over Zoom, and chatted with her about the many bonds she formed during her time on the show, her best beauty secrets, what it’s like being a Canadian in the Bachelor franchise, life after Bachelor in Paradise and more! Read our interview below, and enter for a chance to win a year supply of the Pantene Pro-v + Miracle Rescue collection! —Noa Nichol
Hi Serena! It is so nice to have some one-on-one time with you! How are you doing and what are you up to these days?
I’m good, life’s good. The last two years I’ve really done a 180 in my life but I feel like I’ve settled into where I am now, and everything is going really well!
Let’s talk about bonds! Being on The Bachelor is all about bonding with other people, making friends and potentially a deeper romantic connection. What was that experience like? Did you learn anything? And, in terms of being Canadian, do you feel we’re especially good at forming bonds? Do we have any superpowers in that area?
I definitely think going on the show something you don’t realize is all the relationships you build aside from dating the bachelor or whoever you’re dating on the show. There are so many connections that are formed, both on screen and off screen, even with people who are working on the show, so yeah, it’s definitely a bond-building process, for sure. I mean, I obviously met my fiancé through the process, obviously we built a great bond on the show and continue to do so after. Being a Canadian, I definitely feel like I have noticed my accent more than ever before in my life but I also have been complimented on how nice Canadians are, too, and that goes hand-in-hand with building bonds.
On to Pantene, which you’re collaborating with at the moment. How did that come about?
They were nice enough to reach out and ask if I was interested. I grew up as a drugstore makeup and hair beauty girl; I’m a big believer that you can find amazing products, luxury quality at affordable pricing. Pretty much every mascara I’ve ever used is from the drugstore. I grew up using Pantene in my shower so it felt like a natural fit.
Pantene’s formula has some unique bond-building abilities of its own. How do those work, and what kind of bonds are involved in haircare?
Especially in the last two years I’ve really focused on hair products that support building bonds \my life, I love to take really hot showers which I know is not really great for your hair—so, just taking care of my hair’s health. Pantene’s ProV formula really focuses on strengthening the bonds that your hair already has as well as forming new ones, and repairing any damage. My goal is always to have longer hair and I feel like repairing damage is a main component to that. If I were to recommend to a friend who says, hey, I don’t want to spend $50 at the salon but I really want those results, Pantene is really the perfect fit.
Any tips for use?
The way I like to use it is to just incorporate it into the routine I already have. So for me, when I shower, almost every single morning, I like to condition my hair every time I wet it, just to make sure it’s moisturized and hydrated and I use their shampoo about twice a week.
Should we all, all hair types, lengths and conditions, be using these bond-building products?
Yes, absolutely. I’m someone who wears my hair a lot of different ways. Today, I have it blown out. However, I also have extremely curly hair and I also highlight my hair, so I feel I really cover all those different bases, whether you’re using heat tools or have naturally curly hair and want to wear it naturally curly, repairing those bonds and that damage is only going to make your hair healthier and stronger no matter what your hair type is.
Can you give us some of your best locks-loving beauty tips?
One that I am working on myself is not using really hot water in the shower. It is so hard because I love to have a hot shower in the morning, especially now that fall is here. Really hot water on your hair definitely is damaging, you want to use lukewarm water—so, I’m working on that one! I also love to use a silk scrunchie whenever I’m styling my hair and pulling it tight into a ponytail, which will usually lead to some breakage. Also, sleeping at night with my hair either in a loose ponytail or a bun; I also have silk pillowcases which are really soft and good on hair and help with preventing breakage.
What’s next for you?
We have our place in New York right now, we’re still travelling a lot between New York and Toronto. We were just out in B.C. so I got to show Joe some more of Canada, which was really amazing. We’re on to wedding planning soon, I need to buckle down because we really want to get married next year and we’re a little behind in the process!
Will Pantene figure into your wedding day?
Oh yeah! I’ll wash my hair with Pantene that morning; it’ll smell perfect!
