We’re all familiar with the standard spring-cleaning tips, but what about sneaky secrets to really get your space spic and span for the season? Here are seven little-known spring-cleaning tricks to try. —Vita Daily

Use a lint roller to clean lampshades: Lampshades can be difficult to clean, especially if they are made from delicate materials like silk. Instead of trying to dust them off with a cloth, use a lint roller to quickly and easily remove any dirt or debris.

Clean your dishwasher with vinegar: Over time, your dishwasher can start to accumulate buildup and grime, which can affect its performance. To clean it quickly and easily, simply add a cup of white vinegar to the bottom of an empty dishwasher and run it on the hottest setting.

Use a squeegee to clean your carpet: If you have pets or kids, your carpets can quickly become dirty and stained. To clean them up in a hurry, grab a squeegee and use it to remove any pet hair, dirt, or debris that may be stuck in the fibres.

Clean your microwave with lemon: If your microwave is looking a little worse for wear, try this simple trick to get it sparkling clean. Cut a lemon in half, squeeze the juice into a microwave-safe bowl, and add the lemon halves to the bowl. Microwave the mixture for a minute or two, then wipe down the inside of your microwave with a damp cloth.

Dust your blinds with a sock: Blinds can be a real pain to clean, especially if you have to go through each slat individually. Instead of using a duster or cloth, try putting an old sock over your hand and running it along each slat to quickly and easily remove any dust or debris.

Clean your showerhead with vinegar: If your showerhead is clogged with mineral buildup, it may not be working as well as it should be. To clean it quickly and easily, simply fill a plastic bag with white vinegar, tie it around your showerhead, and let it soak for a few hours. When you remove the bag, your showerhead should be free of any buildup or debris.

Use a toothbrush to clean small spaces: When it comes to cleaning small or hard-to-reach spaces, a toothbrush can be your best friend. Use it to scrub grime off of tile grout, clean the crevices around your faucets, or reach into any other tight spots that need a little extra attention.
