They have based their enormous success on the production of the highest-quality wines made in harmony with the environment and with reverence for the rich terroir of Mendoza. We chatted with a company rep, to learn more about this maker of truly delicious South American sips. —Vita Daily

What kind of winery is Santa Julia? Where is it, what does it produce and what makes it unique?

Santa Julia is a family winery, located in Maipú Mendoza, Argentina. It is one of the pioneer wineries in the region, but what identifies it is that it has never stopped innovating and maintaining quality in what it does. Santa Julia produces fresh and easy-to-drink wines. It always seeks to enhance the identity of the variety!

What are some of Santa Julia’s current and/or all-time bestsellers?

Santa Julia’s portfolio is broad and we try to focus on the needs of consumers. Currently the development of the line of natural and organic wines is a success, but also the innovation in packaging such as cans or bag in box.

In terms of sustainable and socially responsible practices, what makes Santa Julia a leader within the wine industry?

In Santa Julia sustainability matters to us. We have certified-organic vineyards, we produce compost and humus to keep the soils of our vineyards naturally nourished. We have cultural centres that include Sewing Workshops, secondary schools, kindergartens, gymnasium and summer school, because we know that we are part of a community and it is our responsibility to take care of it.

What’s the availability of Santa Julia like in Canada?

Santa Julia wines are all over Canada, establishing itself as a brand with a very good value for money. The brand is available in all provinces.

Tough question, but if you could only recommend one bottle for us to try, which wine would it be?

Santa Julia Reserve Malbec. Malbec identifies us as a wine-producing country and the best for this variety. Also because this wine is the heart of the winery, expressing a very fresh wine with very good fruit that adapts to all consumers.
