Vicki’s March Beauty Faves

What is it about springtime that has me excited for all things new and fresh? Perhaps it’s the sunny days, fresh blooms or maybe the lighter layers. Regardless, March brought a fresh batch of new beauty products to try and I could not be more thrilled. Below are some of the best new products I tried in the month of March. —Vicki Duong

musoap. When it comes to bar soap, I know that they’re not all created equal. Lately I’ve been reaching for the Musoap collection ($16 per bar), a natural line of soaps infused with Asian superfoods such as ginger and azuki. From gentle to revitalizing, each blend targets a different concern and is gentle enough for face and body use.

charlotte tilbury. MUA darling, Charlotte Tilbury has taken her skincare knowledge into bodycare with the addition of a Magic Body Cream ($80), a rich moisturizer formulated to target brightening and tightening throughout. Hydrating ingredients like shea butter and hyaluronic acid leaves you supple, while the addition of caffeine natural contours.

u beauty. At last, one of our favorite luxury skincare lines, U Beauty has launched an eye treatment. Their Under Eye Brightening & Plumping Eye Concentrate ($148) targets oxidative stress and free-radical imbalance that causes dark circles and fine lines. Plus the lightweight formula leaves no heavy residue making it ideal for day or night wear.

motter. Removing every last bit of makeup has become a must-do before catching my beauty sleep, and finding a makeup remover that doesn’t strip my skin of its natural oils only makes my evening routine better. I’ve been loving the Motter Cleansing Balm ($72), a multi-functional product that can be used as a makeup melter, cleanser and even as an overnight mask. Just add water to watch this rich balm transform into a soothing milk.

dermalogica. When it comes to skin turnover and putting my best face forward, no ingredient does more than retinol. That being said, retinol can be a very potent ingredient for newbies. Fret not, Dermalogica’s new Dynamic Retinol Serum ($128) delivers a high dose of wrinkle and dark spot-fighting retinol yet is gentle enough to use daily.

yves rocher. Pumping up the volume has never been easier than with Yves Rocher’s Plumping Volume Shampoo and Conditioner ($15 each), a natural blend of ingredients that leaves your hair feeling soft but also adds body to your tresses. Plus the botanical element transforms any shower to a spa-worthy experience with natural floral scents.

glow recipe. It’s berry season, and not just for smoothies but for skincare as well. I’ve been loving Glow Recipe’s latest Strawberry BHA Pore-Smooth Blur Drops ($42), a multifunctional product that is equal parts serum and primer. The BHA helps target uneven texture while strawberry extracts absorb excess oil for a matte finish.

redken. A fresh perfectly tousled hair-do gives off a model off-duty look and a good hair product makes it easy. The Redken Spray Wax ($28) is an aerosol that leaves a lightweight matte finish and instant texture and definition without a waxy feel. Plus the grip gives second-day hair added grit for easy restyling on-the-go.

byoma. Thankfully for budget-friendly skincare aficionados, Byoma has recently graced the shelves of Shoppers Drug Mart and I could not be happier. With the air feeling a little less dry than it did in the winter, opting for a lightweight moisturizer has been ideal for keeping my skin at the optimal hydration level. The Byoma provides bang for your buck with their hydrating gel ($20) and is part of Shoppers Thoughtful Choices collection, formulated with good-for-you ingredients.

rhode skin. Canadians rejoice, Rhode Skin is now available to ship to Canada! The peptide lip treatment ($24) lives up to the hype with a variety of scents (and unscented) available. The shiny formula leaves your lips feeling visibly smoother and naturally plump, while a thicker layer doubles as a lip mask.
