There’s nothing wrong with a classic vanilla milkshake but there are a few spots in Vancouver that are creating some fantastical milkshakes. Topped with everything from cake to cotton candy, here are five of the most delicious concoctions. —Bronwyn Lewis
For their 95th birthday, White Spot is putting a festive spin on a classic. As well as their usual milkshake flavours, White Spot is also serving a Birthday Cake Shake, which comes topped with rainbow sprinkles and a bite-sized birthday cake.
Fable Diner serves a number of Classic Shakes as well as a few Fancy Shakes. Try the Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake. It is made with chocolate ice cream, peanut butter, and pretzels, and it’s topped with Nutella whip and berry compote as well as gram crumb.
Firecrust Pizza on Davie has crafted four different Epic Shakes for the summer. Our favourite is the Candyland Shake. This gravity defying milkshake comes piled high with cotton candy and whipped cream. The glass is rimmed with icing and candy, and the whole thing is garnished with lollipops and pixie sticks.
There are over a dozen milkshakes to choose from at Yum Sweet Shop on Main Street, ranging from Gingerbread to Pistachio to Bubble Gum, and every one comes topped with a cookie. For the chocolate obsessed, the must order is the Triple Threat Chocolate.
At the Yaletown Craffles location they are serving a perfectly pink Barbie-Inspired Monster Shake. This strawberry milkshake comes in a glass covered with pink glitter and it is covered with pink whip cream and Barbie decorations.
