Vancouver Pride is on now so it’s the perfect time to grab a sweet treat to celebrate and support Vancouver’s 2SLGBTQAI+ community. These five rainbow desserts are the best Pride treats in town. —Bronwyn Lewis
Tall Shadow is celebrating Pride by offering a rainbow-themed boxset including a mini vanilla cheesecake topped with fresh fruit, bostock, a funfetti cookie sandwich, and a fruitloop breakfast cookie. A portion of the sales of each will go towards Rainbow Refugee, a community group which supports refugees seeking protection because of sexual or gender persecution.
For a vegan option, To Live For is making special Pride cakes and cupcakes. The 6 inch cakes are made with funfetti sponge and vanilla Swiss meringue and the cupcakes come in vanilla and chocolate. All net proceeds go to Afroqueer YVR.
You’ll have to check the daily filling of L’Atelier Patisserie’s rainbow croissant but the colourful, glossy, stripped exterior will be the same throughout L’Atelier’s Pride celebration. The one we got to try was stuffed with a delicious and creamy mixed berry blend.
Earnest Ice Cream has a special Got Pride? ice cream sammie this year inspired by the Trans Pride flag colours and 1990’s blue raspberry lemonade. In celebration of Pride, Earnest is supporting QMUNITY, a local non-profit.
The Hyatt Regency’s Grain Bar is celebrating Pride with a cocktails and cake package in partnership with Vancouver Pride Society. The package features two cocktails and one slice of festive rainbow cake, and for each purchase a $2 donation will be made.
